JJ's Science Adventure : Magnets ( Review + Giveaway)
JJ's Science Adventure : Magnets |
When I was approached to do a book review, I did not expect the contents of the book to come in a comic form. So effectively this had become a graphic book review instead. As it turns out , the book was rather entertaining, engaging and educational. The perfect 3 Es to be found in a book
.
About JJ Science Adventure
JJ's Science Adventure : Magnets is part of a series of educational comic books by educator Aurelia Tan and illustrated by Nicholas Liem. The series aims to aid readers to master key learning objectives stated in the Singapore education's Primary School Science syllabus.
After receiving their birthday presents from their grandfather, Joyce and Jonathon find themselves in possession of two bags which transform into a talking robot (Robo) and a teleportation portal. With a set of keys from Robo, the kids open the portal into sub-dimensional world created by the ‘World Maker’, an incredible invention by their grandfather to help them learn science.
In this adventure, the twins journey into the World of Magnets where they discover the physical properties of magnets and solve challenging puzzle traps laid by their grandfather. Will they survive the constant sabotage by a Minion sent by Mr Sinister and win the prize, a piece of puzzle key which unlocks yet another secret?
Boys are notable weaker readers compared to girls. With a colourful and engaging illustration, this manga inspired graphic book makes learning easy. With visual illustration, it makes explanation of scientific terms easy for the young ones to visualise, understand and learn.
As the book is all about magnets, the boys are able to learn the various uses of magnets and its properties. Combine this read with real magnets for experiment, I am sure the concept of magnets will stick to the child's head at the end of the day. If I have my way, I would probably advocate more graphic books to be use in primary school syllabus. After all they say picture paints a thousand words.
The books are available from Harvest Edutainment at $18.90 each. For this week , you can also get your copy at Popular Fair @ Expo Hall 6B from 3rd of September (Thursday ) to 6th September (Sunday)
